Frequently Asked Questions About Free Printables
What is a free printable?
A free printable is a free PDF file of a design that you can print on your printer at home or have printed at your local printer. The free printables that we offer include monogram printables, printable banners, printable party decorations, printable invitations, wedding printables and more.
How do the I download the free printable files?
- Make sure you have the most recent version of Adobe Reader installed on your computer and that it is set as your default PDF viewer. You can download it for free here – Adobe.com
- Unlock the files by tweeting, liking us on Facebook, or following on twitter etc. Look for the gray box on each printable page that says ‘your free printable is ready for download’ and read the box to unlock the files.
- After you unlock the file, click on the download button to download the file.
- Once you have the file downloaded and opened in Adobe Reader, you can edit the text fields in the files if there is any text to edit. The text for the monograms has to be entered in a certain way in order to get the monogram to show up correctly. Each file has directions for how to enter in the monogram.
Why do I need to use Adobe Reader for the files?
The files use Adobe Reader to get the editable text fields to work correctly. If you are using a PDF viewer other than Adobe Reader, then the text in the files is not going to work correctly.
Why do I need to unlock the files to download them?
We provide our files free of charge. All we ask for in return is that you share them with your friends or follow us on social media.
May I sell the printed product or the file? May a put the designs on products for sale?
No, you may not sell the printed product or put the designs on products for sale. We do not allow our files to be sold or uploaded to any other sites. Our designs are copyrighted designs and are provided to you for free for your personal enjoyment only. We have worked very hard on our designs. Please do not sell or steal our files. Should we find that our items are being sold, the appropriate action will be taken.
How do the printable monograms work?
To get the monograms to work you must first make sure that you have Adobe Reader installed on your computer. You can download Adobe Reader for free here. If you already have Adobe Reader installed, make sure the version on your computer is updated to the most recent version. If you don’t have the most recent version expect to have some issues with editing the monograms. When you download any of the monogram files from our site, make sure that they are opening in Adobe Reader. The monogram files are PDF documents (protected document format documents). There are many PDF readers out there other than Adobe Reader. If you are opening the file in another PDF reader then the monogram will not work properly. For Mac users, you can download Adobe Reader as well and make sure the file is opening in Adobe Reader instead of the default PDF reader which is called Preview on a Mac. If you aren’t sure how to change your default PDF reader to Adobe Reader then you can always right click on the download button, save the file to your computer, open Adobe Reader then in Adobe Reader go to file, down to open and open the file from where you saved it.
Once you have the file opened in the Adobe Reader, you can double click on the existing letters and edit them to your letters. Make sure you are entering them in all caps.
When you go to print any of the monograms make sure that page scaling is set to NONE. This is very important for most of the monograms because they are a specific size and if you scale them down then they won’t fit how they are intended.
What type of paper do you recommend these be printed on?
Read the descriptions of the free printable for paper and other recommendations.
I don’t have a really great printer. Can you recommend one?
Can I get the files printed somewhere?
Yes you can. We suggest going to FedEx office or another office store that offers printing. You can use the computers there, enter in your own text and have them printed.
I opened the file and it is plain letter and not the lettering shown in the picture. What am I doing wrong?
The file must be opened in Adobe Reader to work. If the font is plain lettering it means that you are opening it in another PDF reader and not Adobe Reader. If you aren’t sure how to change your default PDF reader to Adobe Reader then you can always right click on the download button, save the file to your computer, open Adobe Reader then in Adobe Reader go to file, down to open and open the file from where you saved it.
Adobe Reader won’t let me save the modified file. Is there a way to save it?
No. There is no way to save the file after you’ve modified it. Adobe Reader will only let you modify the document and then print it.
Do you offer commercial licenses for your designs?
At this time we are not selling any commercial licenses. Our designs are currently only for your personal use and enjoyment.
